Couple of years ago, adidas introduced its first laceless soccer cleat. Nike and Puma followed soon. We take a look at both, laceless cleats and normal cleats with laces and tell you what's better for you.

Soccer cleats always came with laces and they are needed to lace the cleat and to have a proper fit. German International and Arsenal Player Mesut Ozil stated the following when he first got the chance to wear laceless cleats: “My whole career I have tried to minimize the impact of laces on my strike and ball control”

He makes a fair point that laces impact ball control and the ability to strike. On the other hand without laces you do not have the chance to adjust the fit of the cleat anymore. In other words, the cleat has to perfectly fit because you do not want to play with a cleat that does not fit you well or where your feet slide around when you change directions.
